How do I choose the right Race Face handlebar?
You can choose your bar by how you ride, where you ride and your personal preference. Era SL is the lightweight choice for XC, Downcountry, and light Trail. Turbine is the alloy sweet spot for Trail and All-Mountain riders. Era is the carbon option for riders pushing into harder Trail and Enduro terrain. Atlas is the strongest bar in the lineup, built for Downhill, Gravity, and big-hit riding. All four are backed by Race Face’s Lifetime Warranty, crashes included.
Just what is the Goldilocks (GL) Tune?
Not too stiff. Not too flexy. After hundreds of hours of testing, we found the optimal balance of vertical compliance and lateral stiffness (based entirely on rider feedback) and found that 85% of riders preferred one particular sweet spot of vertical compliance for their riding comfort. We named this sweet spot the Goldilocks (GL) Tune.
Do all Race Face handlebars have the GL Tune?
No, GL Tune is only available in our premium Era, Turbine, Atlas and Era SL bars. While our other bars are plenty strong and will stand up to hard riding, they won’t have the same fatigue-reducing qualities of the GL Tune bars.
How does GL Tune help on the trail?
GL Tune helps reduce hand fatigue and arm pump by adding the right amount of vertical compliance into the bar. That means more comfort through rough sections, more control when the trail gets rowdy, and more energy left for another lap instead of cutting the ride short.
Are all four bars tuned the same way?
They are all tuned toward the same ride feel, but they get there differently. Carbon bars like Era and Era SL use specific carbon layups, while alloy bars like Turbine use precise internal butting. Atlas brings that same fatigue-reducing feel to a bar built for gravity riding and World Cup Downhill abuse.
