Turbine wheels, vault hub body

I love these wheels, they are tough and take rock shots pretty well. The instant engagement on the vault hub is pretty sweet. I own six pairs of these wheels and wouldn't run anything else.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cassette body include everything needed for installation?

Yes, each cassette body assembly comes as a complete kit, including:

  • The cassette body itself
  • A matching end cap
  • The necessary retaining ring or washer

While the kit is complete, please note that mechanical aptitude for hub disassembly is required, and you should follow the torque specification of 40Nm (29ft-lbs) marked on the unit to ensure a safe and proper installation.

Which drivetrain standards are currently supported?

These replacement bodies are designed to offer broad versatility for your Vault hub. You can choose from three main configurations to match your specific setup:

  • XD: For SRAM-style cassettes.
  • Microspline: Specifically for Shimano 12-speed systems.
  • HG: Compatible with standard mountain bike cassettes.
Which specific cassette body should I choose for Shimano 12-speed?

For Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes, you must select the Micro Spline version of the Vault cassette body. This specific model is precision-engineered to accommodate the unique geometry of the Micro Spline standard while retaining the large, durable bearings found throughout the Vault hub line.

Which cassette standard is best for Shimano 12-speed?

If you are running a Shimano 12-speed MTB drivetrain, you should choose the Micro Spline cassette body. It has been specifically engineered to meet the unique geometry requirements of these cassettes while maintaining the high-performance durability standard of the Race Face Vault hub system.

Is the Micro Spline version as durable as others?

Yes, absolutely. Race Face designed the Micro Spline cassette body to utilize the same large bearings found in the XD and HG versions. This ensures you do not have to compromise on performance, bearing longevity, or reliability when upgrading to a Shimano 12-speed setup.

Can I install this at home myself?

If you have some mechanical experience, yes. However, proper installation is critical for performance; you must have a torque wrench to ensure the component is secured to the specific torque specification of 40Nm (29 ft-lbs).
