Era Chainring

Buy Now

Play the long game.

The Era ring is made of three parts, letting us use the best-performing material for each. For the teeth, that’s stainless steel, which is stronger (and harder) than titanium with a wear life five times that of aluminum.

Don’t mess with the best.

The aluminum crank interface is tried, tested and proven on Race Face chainrings. It’s light, it’s durable and with CINCH it’s easy to swap out ring sizes.

Spidey strength.

Binding it all together is the carbon fiber spider, compressed and co-molded using the same process we developed for Era carbon cranks. This little spider can withstand the torque of a 5.9L Cummins diesel engine. We checked.

Everlasting. Light.

Era is expected to last five times as long as a typical alloy ring for less than twice the cost. By bonding three parts made from optimal materials, we made a chainring with the weight of aluminum and the lifespan of steel. Era is a chainring without compromise.

Light, durable, lots of options

I had to find a ring that would accommodate a DUB wide frame spacing with the crank I had and this ring was available. It's just as light as any other ring and it should last longer than the next chainline standard.

Thank you, Todd, for your positive feedback. We're glad the Era Chainring meets your needs and performs well. We appreciate your support!

I chose the Era Carbon chainring for its clever use of engineered materials

I chose the Era Carbon chainring for its clever use of engineered materials. Would an Aluminum chainring have done the job? Sure! But the Era offers the weight of Aluminum with much better wear performance. This was a no-brainer for the very dusty conditions we have.

Worth the expense

After one full season of these on 2 of my primary bikes, the chainrings show no wear and chain stretch has been slowed immensely. With cassettes and quality chains costing so much, these will pay for themselves and save me time replacing drivetrain parts. They have also taken hard hits without issue so far and run quieter than alloy rings.

Amazing chainring!

I know the main selling point on this chainring is durability, so it will take some time to understand whether or not the claims are true on that, but what I can say so far is that the chainring performs really well. Chain retention is good and it looks great on the bike. Installation was simple and no creaks from the interface. Make sure to follow installation instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 30T size suitable for technical climbing?

A 30T ring is an excellent choice for riders tackling technical terrain and steep climbs. It provides a versatile gear range that pairs effectively with modern 12-speed drivetrains.

Can I choose between different chainline setups?

Yes, the Era Chainring is available in two chainline configurations to ensure proper compatibility with your bike’s drivetrain:

  • DM (Direct Mount): 52mm chainline with 3mm offset.
  • DMW (Direct Mount Wide): 55mm chainline with 0mm offset.

Both options are designed for use with the RF136 spindle to maintain perfect alignment.

Will this work with SHI12 tooth profiles?

Yes, this specific model is precision-engineered for the SHI12 tooth profile, ensuring perfect engagement and reliable power transfer for your 12-speed setup.

Does the chainring help maintain overall chain health?

Yes, the Era Chainring is specifically engineered to preserve the life of your drivetrain. By utilizing hardened stainless steel for the teeth, it resists the rapid wear that typically plagues aluminum chainrings. This high-durability surface ensures that the chain-to-tooth interface remains consistent over time, significantly reducing premature wear on your chain compared to traditional alloy options.

Does this handle harsh or dusty trail conditions?

Yes, the Era Chainring is specifically engineered for demanding environments. By utilizing stainless steel teeth, it offers superior wear resistance in gritty or dusty conditions compared to standard aluminum rings, ensuring that your drivetrain stays quieter and more reliable for much longer.

How does the longevity compare to standard alloy rings?

The Era chainring is engineered for extreme endurance. It is designed to last five times longer than a typical aluminum chainring, providing exceptional value for riders who want to minimize maintenance and frequent replacements.
