1. What’s your name?
William Blouin-Comeau
2. How long have you been in the bike industry?
About 9 years? Worked in a local bike shop on Vancouver Island before making the move to the mainland. Now back in the bike world, little less wrenching, little more time behind the computer!
3. What do you do at Race Face?
Sport and Athlete Marketing. In short, anything from making sure our athletes get the parts they need, coordinating product launches and brand projects, to finding and supporting new talent with inspiring stories.
4. What’s one weird fact about you?
There was a time where I was slamming a bag of carrots a night - my palms turned orange so I had to tone it down a little.
5. How often do you ride?
Varies with the season, but in the spring/summer/fall, I try to get out 3-4x a week. Looking to push that a bit more this year and see what crazy rides I can get myself into.
6. What type of riding do you do?
Trail/enduro.
7. What’s your favourite trail?
Too many to count. Anything on Forbidden Plateau has always been a highlight for me. Explored a couple new ones in the Sea to Sky region over 2021 that blew my mind. Currently and weirdly, Grannies on Fromme has really made me enjoy the slower, techy trails that we have.
8. What made you pick this bike over others?
HA. It was available... but honestly, I have been looking to build myself a hardtail for some time now. Being on a 160-170mm full suspension for the past handful of years left me interested to see if I could even remember how to ride a hardtail...
9. What is your favourite component or part of your bike and why?
Brakes/cockpit. I have been on carbon Race Face bars since I was about 15 or so and always loved them. I made the switch this year to the alloy Turbine R's to compare and so far loving them. I was also surprised with the Deore 4-piston brakes - wanting to keep this build reasonable I took a gamble but man... these brakes are the bomb (especially for a $400 set of brakes).
10. Have you changed/added anything to your bike to suit your riding style?
Not really, I slammed the rear wheel as far forward as possible to make the bike super playful and looking forward to experimenting with the longer wheelbase.
