Frame Brand/ Model and Size: Pivot Phoenix (S4)
What is your name?
David Symons

How long have you been in the industry?
I have been here at Fox/RFE for 3.5 yrs. but have been riding MTB for ages.
What do you do at Race Face?
My role is as a Test Engineer, which includes a bit of everything test related including development (new tests, fixtures, tools, improvements, etc.), validation and global roll out, and simply running tests.
How often do you ride?
I aim for around once a week now on this bike and around 2-3 times a week in the summer.
What type of riding do you find yourself doing the most?
Grind up, bomb down. Some DH racing in the summer and maybe Enduro.

What is your favorite local lap?
For trails, maybe Cypress Jersey shore, or on Seymour, Neds or Cambodia. Of course, a sprinkle of non-marked trails...
Worst mechanical to happen mid-ride?
When my derailleur got jammed in, my spokes going over hecklers rock.
Favorite song right now?
As of right now, maybe iBETSKi by B.DAY.
Solo ride or group ride?
Both but riding in groups preferred.
Do you actually stretch or just say you will?
I really should...
What part of your bike is definitely not okay right now?
It is still new, but my chains get perpetually neglected and need some love.

What’s the one bike trend you’ll never adopt?
Despite constant attempts, unfortunately it seems to be throwing quality whips.
What made you pick/build this bike and the components one it? And Why? Any interesting setup/custom parts/things you are excited about?
I chose this bike for its steep seat tube with long insertion depth which presented the opportunity to build this mid/high pivot DH bike that is comfortable and fairly efficient to pedal; something I have wanted for a while.
Custom Parts:
- Custom lockout switch installed on the X2 (not available with lockout in this size).
- 3D printed TPU fork bumper to allow internal routing of the additional cable from the dropper post.
- Adjusted the end of the dropper to maximize insertion depth.
